Plastome Characterization, Phylogenetic Relationships, and Regional Conservation Status of Ficus populifolia Vahl. (Moraceae), a Peripherally Isolated Plant Population in the Arabian Peninsula

The Ficus populifolia Vahl. in the Arabian Peninsula is threatened, peripheral, and geographically isolated from its main population Africa. Here, entire plastome of F. was sequenced analyzed to provide a baseline genetic resource for future research. has classic quadripartite structure with size 160,610 bp, large small single copies 88,729 20,097 respectively, each pair inverted repeats are 25,892 bp. genome includes 113 unique genes, 79 protein-coding 30 tRNAs, 4 rRNAs. results reveal total 49 long repeats, including (30) palindromic, (14) forward, (5) reverse repeats. Similarly, 186 simple sequence were identified, 83.8% which mononucleotides. genomic comparison four species indicated that highly conserved, some hypervariable noncoding regions. phylogenomic analysis 28 Ficus, based on 78 coding revealed closely related African lyrata. data generated this study valuable resources investigations genetics, authentication, conservation wild populifolia.
